Safety Requirements for Portable Power Sources (Interim Summary) Created.

In recent years, portable power supplies equipped with lithium-ion batteries and other devices that output alternating current have become a means for consumers to use household appliances and charge devices such as smartphones during disasters or outdoors.

On the other hand, according to information received by the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation under the Consumer Product Safety Act (information on serious and non-serious product accidents), accidents (all fires) caused by the use of portable power sources are on the rise, and there are certain Electrical risks (fire, electric shock, etc.).

Portable power supplies are currently exempt from the Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Act, but in view of certain electrical risks (fire, electric shock, etc.) and the lack of product-specific safety requirements, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) established a public-private participation research group to To establish the requirements necessary for ordering and five-year safety measures. In February 2024, we studied the necessary risk reduction measures based on risk scenarios for portable power supplies and prepared safety requirements incorporating safety measures (interim summary).

We ask those involved in the manufacture and import of portable power supplies to use these safety requirements (Interim Summary) to promote safety measures for portable power supplies and to further advance product safety measures through risk assessments and other means.

Japan's DENTORL Law (Electrical Equipment and Materials Control Law) stipulates that Japanese purchasers must register with Japan METI within one month after purchasing goods, and must mark the purchaser's name or ID on the product for future reference. Supervise and manage the product sales process. Products exported to Japan and applied for PSE certification must require METI registration.

If PSE catalog products such as mobile lithium-ion batteries or power supplies are sold on the Japanese website, please submit the relevant registration information to Amazon within one month after receiving the official notification from Amazon Japan, otherwise the relevant product information will be removed from Amazon in the future.

1. The applicant cooperates with LCS to provide application documents;
2. Submit the test report and related documents to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan;
3. Application document registration;
4. Product brand design and confirmation.
